The Top 3 Bakuretsu Tenshi Hentai Doujin

Cyberpunk Month! I figured I’d do a mild theme this month, since that seems fun and it’ll give me an excuse to point out some cyberpunk anime that I enjoy. Also we’re doing Thankful Month with the theatres, so why not? That said, it might not make it the full month because the shows I wanted to do are proving to be pretty light on doujin.

So let’s take a look at an anime that didn’t get enough attention by my estimation, and the character designer is far and away one of my favorite artists, Hakua Ugetsu. That show is Bakuretsu Tenshi, released outside of Japan as Burst Angel. It’s a fantastic show with a fun premise, some great creators working on it, and a super interesting setting. Sadly, this hasn’t translated into a glut of erodoujin. It coming out in 2004 might have something to do with it, but I’ll still be sad about it.

But hey! Even though pickings are slim, let’s see what the perverts can do with it!

#3 – MEGMEG Fifteen

Ah, the good ol’ days.

A book from Comiket 67 in the winter of 2004, MEGMEG Fifteen hits the notes you can pretty much expect from a show that’s light on guys and heavy on yuri overtones. But hey! Who doesn’t like a good penis from time to time? MEGMEG Fifteen’s got you covered on both fronts without fouling up the works with dudes by being a futa-yuri book. And this is that vintage 2004 futa, before there were balls on everyone and not a vagina to be seen. The real shit. The art’s by Hitoshi Kino and Pochiko, respectively, published under the Kopikura circle, which has been around since 1996 and is still going strong, as far as I’m aware.

In spite of being a 51-page book with two stories, it dives right into the hardcore shit straight out of the gate. Nothing less from Sei’s mercenary group. This one’s been translated, so I’ll leave the reading up to you and get onto general impressions. The art for the first story is rough, something that’s not uncommon, especially in older books where digital tools and slow workflow meant getting professional-grade work together was a massive challenge. It’s forgivable considering the name of the circle could easily be interpreted as Copy Club, hinting at the often cheaper method of putting together doujin, copybon (コピー本). Still, it’s a nice little book and includes the glorious character revelation that when Jo cums, it exists at a speed high enough to stick the entire load to the ceiling. Not sure how I feel about that, but that’s fine.

Consult a doctor immediately.

Beyond the roughness and the history lesson, I was really going along with the porn in this first story… right up until Jo opens up her holster and pulls out flame-painted interlocking penises. Jo shoves her makeshift double-headed dildo into herself and makes use of the oft-forgotten double penis trick. The art goes a bit off the rails for a minute, but nothing ruinous. Too many lines and not enough definition. Still, overall a fun little story with a bit of a laugh at the end.

The second story is much cleaner, visually, and Pochiko is hard to track down so seeing if he’s progressed isn’t doable. The art here is very serviceable in that 2004 sort of way, but it’s incredibly amateurish in its execution. Very clean lines, though the backgrounds are basically skipped almost entirely and the thickness of the paper it’s printed on probably varies more than the line thickness.

RIP Foot Fetishists

On the story side, it gives a little bit of lead up, with Jo waxing romantic about when they met for a few panels before taking off her shirt to show that she’s got a penis. Turns out she just grows one when she gets horny. I mean, who doesn’t? This is middle school sex-ed stuff, guys. When tomboys get horny, bam! Penis. Every time. Jokes aside, there’s a bit more character to chew on and that saves it a bit. There’s a nice ending here that wraps things up on a fun note, even if the art and originality is a meh.

All in all, a good book with two fun, wankable stories. Keeping in mind that we’re dealing with a franchise that lived and died almost entirely in 2004 (with a minor OVA in 2007), I think it’s pretty good.

#2 – Fallen Angel

Toys ‘R Us could have prevented this.

While Fallen Angel lacks shading, it doesn’t disappoint elsewhere. Released at Comiket 66, Natsukomi 2004, by Kotogi Raura‘s doujin circle Rabbit Company. Kotogi’s been doing stuff since way back in 1995 and seems to have gone radio silent sometime around 2015 with no Pixiv updates and no Twitter that I could find. Still, it’s a single-artist book and one of two solo books for everyone’s favorite tech-savvy loli, Amy.

The story is pretty straightforward. Amy is tired of being called a kid by all the other girls in the mercenary outfit, so as one is wont to do when they want to prove they’re not a kid, she decides to fuck the cook. Kyouhei, saint that he is, resists Amy’s advances for a sum total of about three sentences before just going along with it. Not going to convince a judge, but hey! It’s the brave new world, where guns are legal in Japan! Anything goes!

How to prove you’re a grown-up.

Turns out it’s Amy’s first time (who could have guessed) and Kyouhei makes one of the classic blunders. He realizes that it’s hurting her. Being not only a cook, but apparently a doctor, he decides he’ll get it over with as fast as possible. Anatomically speaking, the obvious thing to do when something hurts is to do it faster and harder. And apparently it works. She cums like a seasoned pro and promptly tells anyone who’ll listen.  While this violates the laws surrounding Loli-Pervert Confidentiality, no one believes her so no charges are filed.

Let’s talk about the art, though! It’s good stuff. Obviously pencil only, it still manages to be clean and readable, never getting visually cluttered and not often making you wonder why the backgrounds are so scarce, at least not when it matters. The line work is good and the hand-crafted feel of it has a great nostalgia to it, I think. It definitely carries out the vibe of older stuff with a bit of finished CG work for the cover and all pencil interiors. Aside from that a solid loli book, especially for Amy fans since I think it does a solid job capturing her character in the few non-sex scenes. Well put together porn.

#1 – VIRIVIRI

A relatively dry sticky situation.

Another multi-artist book. I’ll be talking about each of the stories and their art and linking the artists. VIRIVIRI was released in June of 2004, like the rest, but I can’t find what convention. There were a number of them in June of 2004, the larger ones being Comic Communication 06 and Sunshine Creation 24, both of which allowed adult books. Hard to say. The circle is IRODORI who are still active today. Something that always brings joy to my cold, empty heart. The site’s down, though, so that’s no good. Anyway, on to the book.

We start off with some CGs by Maruto! Absolutely stunning work for the time and work that Maruto! continues to this day. And since I won’t get to harp on his amazing work too much, I’ll just link this Jasonko that he did back in April.

Had to get Sei in. But that nose…

Rolling on to Soyosoyo’s entry. It seems like Soyosoyo is the main member behind IRODORI, at least as far as I can tell, so he gets first crack at perving it up for us. The story is one as old as time. Meg’s been captured by what looks like Mutant Wong. He’s got tentacles at the ready and Jo is sick of Meg being a fuckup so she’s opting not to go in and save her. A reasonable decision considering Meg’s track record.

Curiously, the whole gang’s there and everyone except Jo ends up getting the tentacle treatment. The story is a little rushed, but the art is well done, even if the style isn’t exactly my speed. It’s got a bit of that ’90s feel to it that I don’t seek out as a preference. Overall though, it’s hard to argue that it’s a strong entry, especially with the absolute desert of content around this great show.

Sure, she’s “sleeping.”

Page 17 is the start of Nitta Kumi’s entry, an artist I can’t seem to find online and who hasn’t done any doujin that’s been listed for a while. The section is titled Shokugo no Ippuku, which translates to something like A Dose After Eating. So if you’re using your context clues, you’ll realize pretty quickly that Kyouhei drugs all the girls. Yep, that’s the way we’re going with this one. It’s a bold move, honestly. Let’s see how it works out for him.

Not well. He decides to go after Jo. No idea what he was thinking. I’ll leave the specifics for you guys to enjoy but it’s a great little section and well-drawn on top of that. It definitely captures Jo properly and gives a good impression of the other characters in their incredibly brief appearances. The art doesn’t feel off model the way Soyosoyo’s section did and as a massive fan of the designs to begin with, that’s a big plus for me. Sad I can’t find the artist. Maybe a more painstaking search will help out.

The reaction every woman wants.

The art takes a bit of a nose dive on Tokiwa Youko’s entry, which is next up. Koko ga Patisserie is the title. It involves whipped cream. Not really sure why. We don’t get a lot of setup, we just dive right into Kyouhei piping whipped cream designs onto Amy’s ass while Jo walks around with expanded whipped cream tattoos.

Amy tells him to lick it off, which leads to easily the best pair of panels in the entire doujin.

Somehow, it turns out he was actually super turned on and not nauseous and they get to fucking. There are some more unintentionally hilarious things, especially the bottom panel of this page. Art-wise, there’s a weird combination of well-drawn parts and absolutely mystifying anatomy. Everything is way off model, especially Amy’s hair, which is supposed to be light, but in this segment it is literally just about every color you can manage in black and white.

Expressive. Maybe too expressive.

The last segment is by ZUKI(ki) who mercifully still exists and is still porning it up. Always nice to see artists still doing their thing. His segment is called Instant! Death Game because punctuation is more a suggestion than a rule. We start off on a bit of a bad foot with heads large enough to consider a hydrocephalus diagnosis. But I’m not a doctor so I guess I’ll just look at the titties and shut up.

As a reward for his quality cooking, they’ve tied up Kyouhei and… that’s not a reward. A discrepancy that Kyouhei spots right away, being the clever lad that he is. Still, it turns out that’s just to stop him from pretending he doesn’t want to fuck all of them. They know how male protagonists act, alright. These girls have clearly been in a manga before.

Not how I remember Sei looking.

After that it’s basically a Kyouhei/Meg short with not much else, but it’s a fun time in general. It’s worth mentioning, I think that the anatomy here is really well done. Why am I bringing up anatomy specifically, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. The faces. They’re… they’re just all over the place. It’s enough to make it distracting while you’re reading through. It’s the sort of thing that I could imagine really upsetting a casual wank. Nice body, nice porn overall, look up too high and BAM! Bug eyes and a giant forehead. Having looked through his stuff, it seems to be something of a quirk of his drawing, so it’s a love it or hate it kind of deal. Not my bag, but hey, still a fun little read.

It’s a slim fight out there, but I’ll give this the number 1 spot somewhat grudgingly. While not everything in it is to my taste, the sum of its parts are pretty much the best of the bunch for overall quality. I’ll say Fallen Angel was a close second, but it’s a little too sparing for me to bump it up. Of course, the real sadness is in the lack of books for the show. Go watch it. And the OVA.

Oh and the only other dedicated Bakuretsu Tenshi books I’m aware of being online are Batou Kokuhaku and Bakunyuu Tenshi. Just about everything else is crossover or small segments.

Bonus: Hakua Ugetsu’s Artbooks

Not much to say, I just wanted an excuse to link some art. And buy a copy of famboyant. It’s full of god tier stuff.

Burst Angel was what got me into anime back in 05. What was an adolescent boy’s attempt to see cartoon boobs became a doorway to something new.
